A school uniform is more than just a part of one’s appearance.

A school uniform is more than just a part of one’s appearance. A stylish uniform that suits the student offers many social benefits, encourages a sense of pride, and saves time. It’s practical and reinforces a sense of community.

Ethics teacher Rasa Najulytė-Patamsienė believes that a uniform is more than clothing. It frees the mind, breaks down stereotypes, and, of course, is comfortable – and an attractive uniform is even more so.

  • A uniform frees the mind. Wondering how? Our clothes are a part of our identity, style, and self-expression. Many teenagers spend a lot of time each morning choosing what to wear to school. While some students may feel that a uniform restricts them, it actually simplifies life: when you know you’ll be wearing a neat shirt and sweatshirt each morning, there’s no need to worry about what to wear. This means that a uniform frees the mind, allowing students to focus on more important things.
  • A uniform breaks down stereotypes. Think it doesn’t? We all know the saying, “You’re judged by your clothes, but valued by your mind.” If all students walk through the school doors looking similar, these judgments are minimized, and each student is accepted for who they truly are: creative, talented, active, or calm – how they want to be, not how they look.
  • A uniform is convenient. A well-designed uniform is not only comfortable but practical too. At the end of the school day, you can continue on to extracurricular activities in your Erudito Lyceum sweatshirt, or, if you wish, neatly store it in your personal locker at school.
