Erudito Licėjus Starts Its 9th Academic Season in Kaunas and 5th in Vilnius

The Erudito Licėjus in Kaunas is now celebrating its ninth September, while the Vilnius branch marks its fifth academic season. We are starting the new school year with a community of 160 national and international teachers and nearly a thousand students in Vilnius and Kaunas.

The only private school in Lithuania offering both national and international programs from grade 0 to 12

“A community like this is both a huge responsibility and a commitment from nearly 160 teachers to take on this responsibility and provide the best education for children,” said Dr. Nerijus Pačėsa, founder and director of Erudito Licėjus, in his opening speech.

The Lyceum highly values and nurtures internationalism. Therefore, we are pleased that this year our international community has been renewed with exceptional strength: more than 20 teachers from various countries around the world – Australia, New Zealand, the USA, France, Spain, Great Britain, Germany, the Netherlands, Hungary, and others – have started their professional journey at Erudito Licėjus. “This is a large and diverse community that can share experiences from around the globe,” says the Head of Erudito Licėjus. In total, 160 teachers will begin the new school year at ‘Erudito,’ working with national and international Cambridge and International Baccalaureate programs.

Erudito Licėjus is the only private school in Lithuania that can offer education at all levels – national and international programs from grade 0 to 12.

“We are not just a school, we are a community,” said Brian Brackrog, Head of International programs at Erudito Licėjus, who is starting his second academic season and has a total of 21 years of experience. “What I love most about the new school year is that the entire community gathers and starts the new academic year together. I enjoy the beginning of the school year because all the students come together, full of energy and enthusiasm. I observed new families joining our community and spoke with new teachers who are starting or continuing their professional journey at ‘Erudito,’ and I am very proud of them all. We are many individual personalities gathered for a single purpose – to passionately develop these young people into unique individuals. Life is unpredictable, but one thing is clear – education and the ability to decide for yourself what you want to do with your life are great values.”

Dr. Nerijus Pačėsa, founder and director of Erudito Licėjus, wished the entire community at the start of the new academic year: “I want to wish you to create a culture that is respectful and a culture of pride – that we take pride in our children, ourselves, our school, and our country,” said Dr. Nerijus Pačėsa.

More and more students are choosing the International Baccalaureate: this year, there are 90 IB Diploma program students

Our community includes not only teachers and parents but, most importantly, students: in Vilnius, 660 students from national and international classes have started the 2024–2025 academic year, and in Kaunas, 277.

“The growth of intellectual, curious individuals is a long journey requiring much effort, patience, and understanding. The most beautiful example of this is the International Baccalaureate students. This is the highest goal – for students to understand what they want from their lives, become mature individuals, and be prepared for the rapidly changing life of an adult,” said Dr. N. Pačėsa. “We pay a lot of attention to helping students prepare for adult life. Today, the world is incredibly dynamic, and it is becoming increasingly difficult to adapt and succeed. Therefore, it is crucial to develop knowledge and skills that will enable success. We have 90 students in the International Baccalaureate Diploma program who will soon continue their journey in universities and quickly enter the professional world. We put in a lot of effort to ensure they receive the latest knowledge and skills to be successful in universities and their professional lives. I want to wish Erudito Licėjus’ students to recognize their talents, identify their passions, and understand their potential so they can create the most successful version of themselves.”

We are delighted and proud of the strong and largest Erudito Licėjus IB community to date: 90 diploma program students are starting the new school year! They will be working with more than twenty international teachers from around the world in Vilnius and Kaunas. This year, the IB Diploma program portfolio has been expanded to include a visual arts program. You can read more about it here.

In November, Erudito Licėjus expects accreditation for the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (IB PYP) – we are a candidate school adding the IB PYP program to the national and international program starting from preschool.

Record number of Lyceum ambassadors: 30 students awarded

At Erudito Licėjus, we create success based on our values and work every day to foster behaviors and attitudes that will be valuable in the future. We aim for students to build friendly and positive relationships based on respect and mutual support. Our value is also diligence – to understand early on that achieving each goal and dream requires effort. Through the development of independence, we aim to create an environment where children can learn to make decisions on their own, take initiative, and be responsible for creating their activities and pursuing their goals. And most importantly – citizenship, so that our children understand early on that they are not alone and that there are others around them who also need our help. We learn to think early on about how we can contribute to solving societal and global problems, thus nurturing active global citizens,” said Dr. N. Pačėsa, addressing the Erudito Licėjus community during the academic year opening ceremony.

Students at Erudito Licėjus are also encouraged to uphold these values. The ambassador program, which has been in place since the Lyceum’s founding, helps recognize and appreciate active, initiative-taking, progressive, community-oriented, and friendly students who embody the Lyceum’s values. Awarding the year’s ambassadors has become a cherished tradition of the new academic year’s opening celebration. This year, we recognized and awarded a record 30 ambassadors in Vilnius and Kaunas: Jūra Dumčiūtė, Marta Demarco, Nikita Kuzmic, Albertas Pleinis, Greta Jasonaitė, Benita Boroumand, Vilius Vaitkus, Jone Dumčiūtė, Liepa Marija Baranauskaitė, Alexandra Abgarian, Tomas Laukaitis, Ignas Kazlauskas, Nadzeya Aliakseyeva, Gabrielė Aleknaitė, Jokūbas Laucius, Elzė Martinkevičiūtė, Fausta Bagdanavičius, Angela Butkevičiūtė, Vasarė Jurkutė, Liepa Kuzabavičiūtė, Deividas Daugėla, Smiltė Vasiliauskaitė, Medeinė Meilė Vasterholt, Liepa Samuitytė, Liepa Emilija Pačėsaitė, Dominykas Jančauskas, Dominika Bustard, Danielė Glinskytė, Marcelo Anguiano Gonzalez, and Viktorija Morkūnaitė. This is the largest result in the history of the ambassador program.

“You are all our ambassadors – all students, parents, and teachers,” said Gintarė Aldonytė, Head of the Vilnius branch, during the academic year opening celebration. She wished the students awarded with ambassador badges to serve as examples for everyone throughout the school year and hoped to increase the number of ambassadors in the coming year.

We wish everyone an unforgettable, interesting, and fulfilling academic year, and encourage those considering joining us to do so and become part of our large international community!
