Marieke Steding
Marieke is an enthusiastic international primary school teacher with a passion for fostering young minds in diverse and multicultural settings. She is graduating with a Bachelor of Education in International Teacher Education for Primary Schools (ITEps) from the NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands.
Her teaching journey has taken her across different continents, where she’s had the pleasure of working in varied educational environments. She has taught subjects like mathematics, phonics, and cultural studies, with a special interest in making learning accessible and engaging for all students. One of her most fulfilling experiences was in Cambodia, where she developed effective methods for teaching phonics and witnessed first-hand the positive impact of tailored educational approaches. Recently, her role in Sint Maarten allowed me to incorporate Montessori techniques into the teaching, broadening her pedagogical skills and deepening her understanding of student-centered learning.
Marieke firmly believes that every child has the potential to excel when provided with the right support and a nurturing environment. Her teaching philosophy is grounded in inclusivity, continuous reflection, and a commitment to understanding and respecting each student’s unique needs and backgrounds. She strives to create a classroom atmosphere that promotes respect, responsibility, and independence, helping students grow as confident and capable learners.
Outside the classroom, Marieke has a strong passion for trampolining and have spent several years coaching young athletes. This experience has greatly influenced her teaching, as it has taught her the importance of perseverance, teamwork, and fostering a healthy, active lifestyle. She loves exploring new cultures and educational philosophies, which she enjoys integrating into my teaching practice to provide my students with a broad, global perspective.
