    Miriam Gottfried

    German Language Teacher Vilnius
    Miriam Gottfried

Miriam was born and raised in a German-Belgian family in Bonn, the former capital of the Federal Republic of Germany. Most of her neighbors and classmates also grew up in binational and bilingual families, which inspired her, as a teenager, to live, study, and work abroad. After finishing school, she pursued this dream and went to Estonia as a volunteer, living and working with young people with mental disabilities. After a year, she returned to Germany and studied History, German, and Dutch at the University of Münster, where she also specialized in teaching adolescents. Upon graduation, she briefly taught teenagers in a German school before returning to the Baltics, first to Latvia, where she taught German as a foreign language for a year. She later moved to Vilnius, where she has been teaching German to adults and children, and Dutch to adults, for twelve years.

Miriam enjoys collaborative projects with colleagues from other subjects. She believes this is the best way to teach and learn, and that not only students can learn a lot from teachers, but teachers can also learn a great deal from their students.
