The School Uniform – More Than Just an Image.
Ethics teacher Rasa Najulytė-Patamsienė invites us to see the school uniform as a symbol of freedom, not restriction.
The school uniform is more than just a part of the image. A stylish uniform that suits the student not only brings many social benefits and encourages a sense of pride but also saves time: it is a practical outfit that strengthens the feeling of community.
Ethics teacher Rasa Najulytė-Patamsienė says that a uniform is more than just clothing. It frees the mind, breaks stereotypes, and of course—it is comfortable. And when the uniform is appealing, it becomes even more comfortable:
- The Uniform Liberates. You may wonder why. Our clothes are part of our identity, style, and self-expression, which is why many teenagers spend a lot of time in the morning thinking about what to wear to school. For many, the uniform may seem like a limitation, almost like a cage. But if you look at it more simply: when you know that every morning a neat shirt and sweatshirt are waiting for you, there’s no need to worry about what to wear. In this way, the uniform actually frees the mind—and lets you focus on a million more important things.
- The Uniform Breaks Stereotypes. Sounds unlikely? We all know the old saying: “First judged by appearance, then by mind.” But when all students walk through the school doors looking similar, such judgments are avoided. Each one is accepted for who they are—creative, ambitious, active, or calm—free to be themselves, not just to look a certain way.
- The Uniform – Comfortable. And of course, a uniform is comfortable—and an appealing uniform is even more so. That’s why after classes, you can confidently head to extracurricular activities wearing the Erudito Lyceum sweatshirt. And if you’d like to change, you can neatly and safely leave your uniform in your personal locker at school.
