Dr. Donatas Šinkūnas
Donatas is an IBDP History and Theory of Knowledge (ToK) teacher whose extensive international experience reflects his strong competence in educating 21st-century students. Previously, he worked at an IB school in Bogotá, Colombia, teaching MYP and DP students Theory of Knowledge, Philosophy, and History. While in Bogotá, Donatas was also responsible for the Model United Nations (MUN) program.
He earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at Vytautas Magnus University in Lithuania and KU Leuven in Belgium, and through exchange programs also studied in Spain, Northern Ireland, and Finland. In 2019, Donatas received his PhD from Western University in London, Canada. An IB model enthusiast, he strongly believes in the meaningfulness and advantages of interdisciplinary learning.
He believes that ideas are human-made tools that help us navigate the world, understand it better, and make wiser decisions in life. Therefore, schools should teach principles of thinking rather than rely solely on memorization. This, in his view, aligns closely with the IB mission and philosophy.
