Neil McCarthy

Neil McCarthy is an English teacher who hails from the Republic of Ireland. He graduated from the National Univeristy of Ireland, Galway with a Bachelor’s degree in English literature before going on to teach ESL in various international posts in Australia, Finland, Austria and Germany. In 2023, he moved to California and began teaching English Literature in a private middle school. During his time there, he launched and curated the school’s own literary journal, while also mentoring over a dozen students to national awards in writing. He also enjoys coaching youth soccer teams. 

His approach to teaching is to empower students to have confidence in their own abilities, to think outside the box, and to understand that creativity is a skill no computer can replace. In his free time, he loves reading and writing, and has published a couple of poetry collections.
