The second long projects were presented at Erudito Licėjus
Erudito licėjus strives to ensure that every child has a personality that is distinguished by achievements, desires to know everything and is able to create. Therefore, the learning system includes projects that help to develop many personal qualities – critical thinking, creative thinking, courage to act, take responsibility, work responsibly and, of course, not be afraid to take risks.
Projects take place throughout the school year
Children must learn entrepreneurship, creativity and social responsibility while still in school, so Erudito licėjus incorporates this set into the learning process, broadening the field of learning. This is done through projects that run throughout the school year.
Students in grades 5-10 carry out five long-term projects a year, lasting 6 weeks each: entrepreneurship, quantitative research, literature (source) analysis, art and social initiatives. These projects are done by all basic education classes from 5th to 10th grade. On the second Friday in December, we heard the presentations of a second project, a quantitative study, which aims to answer a research question in the natural, social or linguistic sciences using the quantitative data collected.
The themes of the projects showed boundless creativity
The goal of quantitative research is quite broad, allowing students to choose an object from 3 different disciplines. It seems like a simple research – which letter of the Lithuanian language is the most popular, but children do not even realize they’re deepening their knowledge in the field of linguistics.
Much attention has also been paid to the impact of the environment on humans, such as how certain film genres affect us or an unbalanced diet. Several classes relied on an experimental method to support their findings, testing the temperatures at which seeds germinate best and calculating their growth time.
It is not just knowledge that is important in these projects. Competence development plays perhaps the most important part of them. Their change is more difficult to measure, which requires a longer period of continuous observation. Teamwork, collaboration, communication, critical thinking, creativity are constantly developed. Preparations for the third project will begin in early January and will be delivered in February.
